Real estate agent held for fake Rs 3.6 crore deal

MUMBAI: The city economic offences wing (EOW) of the police on Monday arrested a 53-year-old real estate agent for

forging

documents and making a fake memorandum of understanding (MoU) to sell five rooms in

Bhendi Bazaar

to a

Bandra

businessman. The accused, Mushtaque Abbajumma, cheated Haji Patel (60), who runs a transport business, of Rs 3.65 crore.

“The complainant knew Abbajumma for quite some time and had earlier made successful sale and purchase deals through him. Abbajumma had gained Patel’s trust,” said assistant inspector Kiran Jadhav.
