of builders has been accused of illegally occupying, carrying out demolition and taking possession of belongings kept in a plot owned by
in Bannuwal Colony, 100-foot-road. The builder has denied the allegations, claiming that his firm has “nothing to do with the incident”.
According to Pramod Gangwar, a Bareilly resident posted as additional district judge (ADJ) in Bijnor, his parents had gone to clean their plot in Bannuwal Colony ahead of Diwali and found that some people had forcefully occupied it by breaking the boundary wall and gate with the help of a JCB. On opposing them, the “intruders” allegedly got involved in a scuffle and threatened the elderly couple with dire consequences before leaving.
When TOI contacted Ramandeep Singh, director of Alliance Group, he denied the allegations of dacoity and illegal possession of property. He said, “Me or Alliance Builders has nothing to do with such incident. It seems FIR is lodged due to some misunderstanding or deliberately with ulterior motives. We have also spoken to the higher officials in this connection who have assured us fair investigation in the matter.”(sic)
Singh also said, “It seems this is simply an act of taking undue advantage of position and to defame us.”
After the incident, Pramod Gangwar’s father, Omkar Gangwar, lodged an FIR at Izzatnagar police station. Speaking with TOI, Izzatnaagar police station officer incharge Upendra Singh Yadav said, “An FIR has been lodged in the case against Sanjeev Dubey, Ramandeep Singh, Raja Arora and six or seven unidentified persons under IPC section 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and section 395 (punishment for dacoity).”
Senior Gangwar, a retired government employee at the block development office, Bareilly, alleged in his FIR, “We had gone to check our 252-sq-metre plot in Bannuwal Colony and wanted to clean up the store room ahead of Diwali as it was lying closed for some time. On reaching, we found people gathered outside and realized that they had broken the lock (of the gate) and demolished the boundary wall to enter the plot within. When we opposed the move, they said they were from Alliance Builders’ Group and that the plot had been registered in its name and asked us to leave. They abused and threatened us, which triggered a brawl.”
Gangwar Senior told TOI that a “few household items that were kept in the store room and furniture were also dragged into a tractor trolley and one of them even snatched a gold chain that I was wearing and fled. A few of them were carrying pistols”. He said the plot was purchased from one Vishal Juneja, a retired government employee, in 2012.
