While Cambay Grand (Thaltej) is yet to pay up Rs 5.27 crore tax, pending since 2013- 14, Cambay Sapphire (Vejalpur) has dues of Rs 65 lakh since 2014-15.

A notice pertaining to pending tax dues was issued by the AMC to the properties.

However, since the dues were still not cleared, the AMC took an action in the matter on Thursday. Deputy Tax Collector Kelvin Kapadiya told Mirror Cambay Sapphire in Vejalpur has been sealed over tax dues of Rs 65 lakh from 2014-15.

The hotels are operated by Neesa Leisure Ltd. Deputy Tax Collector Vipul Patel said, “The taxes have not been paid by Cambay Thaltej since 2013- 14. Every year, it is required to pay up around Rs 70 lakh. Notices have also been issued earlier. An alert notice was also sent out before the sealing.”

Debashish Banerjee, tax assessor and collector, said, “Generally, the properties that have not paid up taxes are sealed and the same procedure has been followed here as well. They will be given time to clear the dues. If they are not able to do so then AMC can recover the tax dues by auctioning off the properties.”
